Our Philosophy and Curriculum

The Fulton Leadership Academy is dedicated to providing a strong instructional program that is aligned to the Georgia State Standards and will have an emphasis on reading comprehension and problem solving in all content areas. The middle school program has been developed to address the unique differences in intellectual ability, social maturity, and physical skills of students ages 11 to 15. It is characterized by flexible approaches to education that are developmentally appropriate for the middle school years. A key component of the educational program is the learning structure for male students.  Middle school male students need to be organized in small centers for learning, utilizing the team approach, where teachers and students have great flexibility in curriculum and use of time. Core teachers will be responsible for teaching at least two subjects and will share a common planning time.  The student day will run from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with an extended day program (SOAR) until 6:00 p.m. that will include after school intervention, academic support, and math enrichment, as well as clubs and extracurricular activities.
